Back again – but nearly wasn’t!
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009People who look at this blog periodically due to their involvement with one or another of my advertising sites will have noticed that there has been very little happening on the blog. In fact, it is exactly six months today since my last posting. I’m now back again after a difficult year of poor health, both my own and in the family. I’ve kept my online businesses just at “engine ticking-over” level but now we’re ready to get seriously active toward a fresh take-off.
The title here says, “Nearly wasn’t!”. That relates to the fact that I very easily could have lost my site. Why? Well, of all the domain names that I own – currently around forty – only two are not covered by an automatic registration renewal and have to be paid for manually when the registration date comes up. AdMastery.biz is one of those two.
On Saturday morning last week I went online to approve (or otherwise) the ads people had placed, only to discover that I was shut out of the site and later to find that the domain name was actually advertised for anyone to renew it. Needless to say I dealt with it rapidly, but learned a lesson about the risk of having non-automatic renewal of registration. In all but two cases the registration fee would have been taken automatically from Paypal without my active intervention. I would have nothing to think about. In this case I was required to go online and manually make the Paypal transfer.
I flag this up because if you’re a site owner you could suffer the same problem if you were as careless as I was on this occasion.
Wishing you success,
